On 26 May 2022, we welcomed two exceptional new Board members to the Catherine Hamlin Fistula Foundation team.
Professor Caroline Homer AO and Greg Morris will bring a wealth of experience in maternal health and not-for-profit leadership to the Board.
As we welcome these two new Board members, we sadly farewell Philippa Ellis, who has been Treasurer with CHFF since March 2014.
We also farewell Malcolm Hewitt OBE MA(Oxon)who has been a Board member since November 2018.
We thank both Malcolm and Philippa for everything they have done for the Catherine Hamlin Fistula Foundation over the years, and for their dedication towards Dr Catherine’s Hamlin’s vision of eradicating fistula. Forever.
New Board Member Profile: Professor Caroline Homer AO
Prof Caroline Homer, Co-Program Director of Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health at the Burnet Institute in Melbourne and Emeritus Professor of Midwifery in the Faculty of Health at the University of Technology Sydney, has joined CHFF as a Director.
Caroline has vast experience and knowledge in newborn healthcare and delivery, having led research and development in midwifery education, practice and models of care for more than 20 years.
Her many appointments include the President of the Perinatal Society of Australia and New Zealand, the Chair of the National Health and Medical Research Council and the Deputy Chair for the Australian Medical Research Advisory Committee for the Medical Research Future Fund.
Caroline is also the Chair of the World Health Organization’s Strategic and Technical Advisory Group of Experts (STAGE) for Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent Health, and Nutrition.
We greatly look forward to working with Caroline and learning more about how her wealth of knowledge, on maternal and newborn health, might support the critical work of the Catherine Hamlin Fistula Foundation in treating and preventing obstetric fistula.
New Board Member Profile: Greg Morris
Greg Morris is Chair of Hamlin Fistula UK and has also joined CHFF as a Director.
Greg has been a valued Board member of Hamlin Fistula UK – the UK partners of Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia and part of the Catherine Hamlin family– for five years.
During this time, Greg has led the Board on strategic matters, ensuring the organisation had continued to strive towards eradicating fistula. Forever.
Greg’s leadership background stems from his work as a Senior Officer for a local authority in the UK.
He spent many years providing guidance on teaching, standards of achievement and school leadership, and made a major contribution to improving overall performance across all aspects of the authority’s work with children.
Greg’s appointment will continue to strengthen CHFF’s strong partnership with Hamlin Fistula UK.
