We're pleased to share our latest Treatment Impact report with you, showing the outcomes achieved by Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia’s dedicated clinical team from July 2023 to February 2024.
A total of 2,581 life-changing surgeries were performed at Hamlin’s Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital and five regional fistula hospitals in Mekele, Yirgalem, Metu, Harar and Bahir Dar.
This year commenced with Catherine Hamlin’s 100th birthday celebrations in Ethiopia and special events culminated in a workshop for international surgical experts at Hamlin’s Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital from 5 - 7 February 2024. Jointly organised by Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia and FIGO (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics), this workshop was attended by world-renowned fistula surgeons and professors including Judith Goh from Australia.
Finally, I’m excited to report that Project Zero was launched in Didessa Woreda (district) on 13th February 2024, following the hugely successful pilot in Ale Woreda last year. This groundbreaking program will be rolled out to two further woredas before the end of the year.
